Halifax, Nova Scotia is known for being a welcoming, hospitable city and province. And when it comes to hosting major events and welcoming visitors from around the world – we never disappoint.
It has been my privilege to be a Scotiabank Centre champion and attend hundreds of events there over the last twelve years. As our city grows – not only in population, but in diversity and abundance of culture – Scotiabank Centre has grown with it. In 2023-2024, the Scotiabank Centre team attracted events that appealed to more of our community and made sure everyone who attended an event at Scotiabank Centre had an unforgettable time.
Last year, Scotiabank Centre gave us so much to celebrate: a record-breaking season for the Halifax Thunderbirds, concerts from Shania Twain and The Doobie Brothers, the incredible show of community at the Wildfire Recovery Concert, and awesome sports events like the 2023 North American Indigenous Games Opening Ceremony and the NHL’s Preseason Showdown with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Scotiabank Centre is a place where our community comes together, makes memories, and cheers loud for our home teams.
And our downtown is richer for it! Over the last decade, Scotiabank Centre has brought visitors from around the world to experience what an amazing place we have here in the HRM, creating business for our downtown bars, restaurants, and hotels in Halifax and Dartmouth. You can actually feel and see our downtown come alive on event nights.
From the 2019 QMJHL Memorial Cup to the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, from Barack Obama to Michelle Obama, from the 2013 ECMAs to the 2024 JUNOs, Scotiabank Centre knocks it out of the park with major concerts and events that welcome in our whole Halifax community and made me proud to be the mayor of this city year after year.
